Cross Country Championship Celebrates Kargil Vijay Diwas in Vilgam

 In commemoration of 25 years of Operation Vijay and as part of the nationwide Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations, a Cross Country Championship was successfully organized at Vilgam Army Camp. The event aimed to channelize the youth’s energy towards becoming a self-confident, organized, and competent workforce, contributing to the socio-economic development of the region.

The competition covered a distance of 7.5 km for the age group of 13-16 years and 10 km for those aged 17 and above. A total of 326 boys enthusiastically participated, showcasing their spirit for the sport.

To motivate and instill a competitive spirit, cash prizes were awarded, with ₹5000 for the 1st, ₹3000 for the 2nd, ₹1000 for the 3rd, and a ₹300 consolation prize for the next 7 places in each category. Master Mohd Suleiman, Master Shakir Mohideen, and Master Aadil Rasood secured the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions in the 13-16 years category, while Master Bilal Mohideen Mir, Master Zakir Nazir Lone, and Master Faizan Ah Lone clinched the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions in the Over 17 Years category.

These sports events organized by the Army Camp play a crucial role in identifying local talents and encouraging them to develop their capabilities, earning widespread appreciation from the local community.
