Drug Control Authorities Take Action in Kulgam: Close Down 2 Medical Shops

Kulgam, February 3, 2024On February 3, 2024, Drug Control Authorities in Kulgam took decisive action against two medical shops in the town for non-compliance with licensing conditions and directives related to a computerized billing system. The shops were closed down as they violated mandatory directives regarding computerized billing systems and the issuance of cash memos or invoices.Several other pharmacies were inspected during this operation, and statutory drug samples were collected for analysis to ensure their quality parameters. The intensified inspections covered areas such as Kulgam, Chawalgam, and others. These actions followed directives from the Deputy Commissioner of Kulgam during the District-level NCORD meeting. In the previous week, two medical establishments were suspended for 3 and 5 days, respectively.The concerned officers emphasized that such inspections are routine, mandated by law, and in compliance with directives from the State Drug Controller. Strict guidelines have been communicated to all medical establishments to ensure the safe dispensing of essential medicines, including Scheduled formulations. The organization has sensitized chemists to adopt robust systems for record maintenance and CCTV surveillance to prevent the misuse of essential life-saving scheduled formulations.
