A 7-day Training Programme for Entrepreneurship in Commercial Beekeeping and Traditional Rice (Zag Rice) Production, focusing on the Branding & Marketing of High-value Indigenous Rices of Kashmir Himalayas, began today at MCRS-Sagam Anantnag. The program is organized by Mountain Research Centre for Field Crops (MRCFC) – Khudwani and sponsored by the Ministry of MSME, Government of India.
The training aims to equip young farmers, especially rural youth and farm women, with essential skills in Commercial Beekeeping and cultivation of Traditional Rice (Zag Rice). Covering aspects like marketing, disease management, quality & quantity yield, G I Tagging, and other important entrepreneurial skills, the program seeks to transform participants into future job providers.
Dr. Najib Ahmad, Head of Mountain Research Centre for Field Crops (MRCFC) – Khudwani, highlighted the program’s goal of providing fundamental training to empower young farmers, enabling them to become entrepreneurs and establish income-generating units. Certificates will be awarded to participants at the program’s conclusion, facilitating their access to other facilities for future ventures.
Suheel Ahmad Lone, SDM Kokernag, emphasized the importance of such programs in keeping farmers informed about new and advanced farm technology. Experts from Agriculture & Allied fields also shared valuable insights during the inaugural session, enriching the participants with knowledge for their agricultural pursuits.
