New Delhi: Google India Digital Services and NPCI International Payments Ltd (NIPL) have inked a significant agreement aimed at extending UPI payments beyond India’s borders. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two entities is set to empower Indian travelers, allowing them to make payments abroad through Google Pay (GPay) without the need for cash or reliance on international payment gateways.The MoU outlines three primary objectives. Firstly, it seeks to enhance the use of UPI payments for Indian travelers globally, facilitating convenient transactions abroad. Secondly, the agreement aims to aid in the establishment of UPI-like digital payment systems in other countries, serving as a model for seamless financial transactions. Lastly, the focus is on streamlining cross-border financial exchanges, making remittances between countries more accessible by leveraging the UPI infrastructure.This collaboration is poised to redefine the landscape of international payments, offering users a secure and efficient means of conducting financial transactions globally through the familiar platform of Google Pay.
