Shameema Firdous, the President of Jammu & Kashmir National Conference Women’s Wing, emphasized the significant role women play in shaping a better and peaceful future for Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking at a meeting of the District Committee in Srinagar, she highlighted the determined and motivated women in J&K who, despite being ignored and facing hardships, continue to step forward to shoulder critical responsibilities. She expressed concern about widening gender disparity, rising unemployment, development deficits, and increasing uncertainty under the current governance, particularly affecting women.

Provincial President of the Women’s Wing, Er. Sabiya Qadri, and District President Baramulla, Adv Neelofar Masood, were also present at the meeting. Shameema lauded women for their remarkable role despite the odds and urged them to continue their relentless fight for their rights.

In her address, Er. Sabiya referred to the “Naya Kashmir” manifesto as their guiding text and emphasized the need to follow its principles. She highlighted the debilitating impact of BJP policies on the progress of women in Jammu and Kashmir, citing challenges such as difficult battles for food and dignity, unemployment, skyrocketing inflation, and exorbitant taxation. Er. Sabiya stressed that women and girls are disproportionately affected and often sacrifice their well-being to ensure their children do not go hungry.
