Handwara Girl Clinches Gold, Budgam Boy Wins Silver in National Archery Championship

Srinagar, February 3, 2024:In a remarkable achievement, 8-year-old Fazeelat Aslam from Handwara, Jammu & Kashmir, secured a gold medal in the 13th & 14th National Field Indoor Archery Championship 2023-24 held in Pune, Maharashtra. Fazeelat, representing J&K, emerged victorious in the under 10-year age category.The championship, hosted at Rajaram Bhiku Pathare Stadium Pune, witnessed the participation of more than 250 contestants from 15 states and Union Territories. Fazeelat showcased outstanding archery skills, achieving 58 points and securing the 1st rank in the competition.Expressing her gratitude, Fazeelat credited her family’s unwavering support for this accomplishment. She emphasized the importance of the mental and moral backing provided by her parents during this journey. Proudly representing Jammu and Kashmir at the national level, Fazeelat encouraged the younger generation in the region to pursue their passions and excel in their chosen fields.In another noteworthy achievement, Zain Bin Hanan from Kanipora secured a silver medal in the Barebow Compound category under the 10-year age group. These achievements reflect the talent and dedication of young athletes from J&K on the national stage.
