LG Highlights J&K Farmers’ Inspiring Stories and Commitment to Equitable Development

During this month’s ‘Awaam Ki Awaaz’ program, Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha reaffirmed the commitment of the Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) UT Administration to foster fair and inclusive development, rooted in the ideals of Dr. Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar.

“Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution and a towering social reformer, emphasized that social democracy embodies a way of life based on principles of liberty, equality, and fraternity,” stated the Lt. Governor.

Highlighting Ambedkar’s focus on social equality, the Lt. Governor applauded the significant strides achieved in the past nine years under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership, with a staggering 13.5 crore people lifted out of multidimensional poverty.

The Lt. Governor underscored the significance of the ‘Back to Village’ campaign, an innovative initiative by the UT Administration designed to empower rural areas socially and economically. He emphasized its goal to revolutionize the rural socio-economic structure, making villages pivotal to J&K’s development.

“Our ‘Back to Village’ initiative emphasizes the power of collective participation. Mutual cooperation should remain a consistent part of our villages’ developmental journey,” added the Lt. Governor.

During his address, the Lt. Governor shared inspiring narratives of progressive farmers in J&K. He praised their diligent efforts and innovative approaches, leading to substantial achievements in doubling agricultural incomes.

Among those recognized were Bandna Devi from Malothi village, Doda, who transitioned from maize to marigold farming, showcasing the prowess of women in driving prosperity. Sunita Devi of Basohli was commended for transforming her land into a thriving integrated farm, combining dairy, vegetables, spices, and traditional crops.

Ganderbal’s Shafeeqa Shora’s remarkable journey was highlighted, where her determination and support from the administration helped establish a successful dairy unit, uplifting lives and inspiring women in the region.

The Lt. Governor also applauded Pushpinder Singh from Kartholi Block, Samba, for initiating agricultural reforms, and Zahoor Ahmad from Kulgam district, who successfully cultivated premium Mushkbudji rice using hydroponics, signaling a significant advancement in agricultural technology.

Moreover, the Lt. Governor voiced suggestions from various individuals regarding addressing senior citizens’ issues, organizing district-level Youth Parliaments, incorporating ethics and critical thinking into educational curriculums, acknowledging young talents, and enhancing the success of the Yuva Utsav.

Lastly, he congratulated Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar for their outstanding performances in the Asian Para Games, encouraging the youth to draw inspiration from such exemplary achievements.
