BuzzBytes Jammu, Feb 26: Secretary of Cooperatives, Babila Rakwal, chaired a meeting to review the progress of establishing economically viable Jan Aushadi Kendras under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendra (PMBJK) initiative by the Cooperatives in each district of the UT. The meeting, attended by Additional Registrars, Deputy Registrars, Assistant Registrars, and other concerned officers, aimed to ensure the functioning of a minimum of one Jan Aushadi Kendra in each district by the first week of March.Secretary Rakwal emphasized that securing a drug license through association with PACS (Primary Agricultural Credit Societies) should be advantageous for qualified pharmacists. She suggested making pharmacists inalienable members of these societies with full rights and stakes. Rakwal urged the identification of pharmacists, popularization of Jan Aushadi Kendras among the public, and maximizing the number of drug stores by encouraging qualified pharmacists. She also stressed on increasing the sales of these stores and exploring long-term tie-ups with public health institutions, especially in far-off areas where there is no presence of Jan Aushadi Kendras. The meeting revealed that 32 out of 160 proposed Kendras have been made functional, with 42 applying for drug licenses and 98 out of 101 applicants obtaining PMBJK approvals. Deputy Registrars are actively engaging with stakeholders to expedite the establishment of these medicine stores for the benefit of the public.
