LEH,: Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta on Wednesday celebrated the festival of Holi with soldiers of the elite Fire and Fury Corps here, expressing heartfelt gratitude for their unwavering dedication and sacrifice in safeguarding the nation’s borders, officials said.
Upon his arrival at the military installation, Gupta was warmly received by General Officer Commanding of the 14 Corps, Lieutenant General Hitesh Bhalla, along with Chief of Staff Major General Sudhanshu Sharma and other senior Army officers.
The celebration was a vibrant affair, marked by a spirit of camaraderie and the traditional warmth associated with the festival of colours, according to a spokesperson from the Lok Bhawan.
Extending festive greetings on behalf of the people of Ladakh, the Lieutenant Governor remarked that Holi embodies the victory of good over evil, the rejuvenating arrival of spring, and the timeless principles of unity, harmony, and brotherhood.
While families across the country gather to enjoy festivals in the comfort of their homes, Gupta emphasized that it is the constant vigilance, immense courage, and profound sacrifice of soldiers deployed in Ladakh’s rugged terrain and harsh climatic conditions that guarantee peace and security for the entire nation.
During his heartfelt interaction with the jawans, the Lieutenant Governor conveyed his immense pride in their exemplary service, acknowledging their invaluable contribution to the nation’s defence. The spokesperson noted that Gupta’s words resonated deeply with the troops.
Gupta observed that celebrating festivals like Holi alongside the armed forces serves to reinforce the sacred bond between the citizens and the guardians of the country’s sovereignty.
He also took the opportunity to urge the general public to embrace the spirit of unity and collective duty that the festival represents, encouraging everyone to actively participate in the mission of nation-building, aligning with the vision of a developed India, Viksit Bharat, by 2047.
Earlier in the day, Gupta shared sweets with the troops, participating in the joyous festivities. Later, he continued the celebrations with officials and staff at the Lok Niwas and the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat in Leh, spreading the message of harmony and goodwill.
