Watan Ko Jano: 250 Specially Abled Children from J&K Explore Delhi and Agra in Youth Exchange Program

New Delhi, February 14, 2024: In a heartwarming initiative, 250 specially abled children from Jammu and Kashmir embarked on a captivating journey to Delhi and Agra under the ‘Watan Ko Jano’ Programme. The initiative, organized by the Social Welfare Department of the Government of Jammu & Kashmir in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), aims to provide exposure to the social and cultural diversity of India.The Youth Exchange program, conducted by MHA and the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, aligns with the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the guidance of Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation. The commitment of MHA to support such developmental initiatives for the youth and children of J&K is underscored by this thoughtful program.The 250 specially abled children, comprising 62 girls and 188 boys in the age group of 6-18 years, had the opportunity to explore Agra and Delhi. As part of the ‘Watan Ko Jano’ initiative, these children interacted with Union Home Secretary Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla and other senior officers in New Delhi.The program specifically focuses on children from terrorism-affected families and/or weaker sections of society in Jammu and Kashmir, identified by the Jammu and Kashmir Rehabilitation Council. This exposure trip is a significant step towards fostering inclusivity, understanding, and cultural exchange, enhancing the holistic development and progress of the youth and children of Jammu & Kashmir.
