Jammu, Apr 17: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday unveiled the jersey of Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Club (SCC) at a function held here, while also launching a wildlife magazine titled ‘Checklist of Mammals of Jammu and Kashmir, India’, as he assured delegations and individuals of time-bound redressal of their grievances.
The cricket club event was attended by Minister for Youth Services & Sports Satish Sharma, Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, and members of the club. Appreciating the club’s contribution to promoting cricket, the Chief Minister said that the government is committed to extending all possible support to encourage sports activities and nurture young talent across Jammu and Kashmir.
SCC President Aman Cheema highlighted the club’s achievements, noting that it has participated in and won several tournaments, and is playing a positive role in engaging youth and steering them away from negative influences such as drug abuse by channelizing their energy into sports.
Earlier, the Chief Minister launched a wildlife publication titled ‘Checklist of Mammals of Jammu and Kashmir, India’. A delegation of wildlife ecologists led by Muzaffar Kichloo briefed him on their ongoing and upcoming projects. The Chief Minister commended their efforts and emphasized the importance of scientific research and conservation in preserving the region’s rich biodiversity.
Separately, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah held a series of meetings with legislators, delegations, and individuals, assuring them of time-bound redressal of their grievances. MLA Abdul Majid Wani, along with former legislator Chaman Lal from Ramban, called on the Chief Minister and highlighted key developmental concerns pertaining to their respective constituencies. A delegation from the Indian Institute of Architects, J&K Chapter, led by its Chairman Vikas Dubey, apprised Abdullah of issues arising from recent amendments to the Unified Building Bye-Laws. A delegation led by Jammu University Teachers Association (JUTA) President Prof. Ravinder Singh presented matters concerning the teaching fraternity. Several individuals also met the Chief Minister to seek resolution of their personal grievances. The Chief Minister gave a patient hearing to all and assured them that all genuine issues would be taken up for priority and time-bound redressal. (BuzzBytes)
